About Adam
Adam Winskill is a violin restorer and maker working in Hampstead, North London. After graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as a violinist he then studied at the Newark School of Violin Making before moving to London in 2013 to train in restoration with Matthew Wing. Adam has been working independently since 2017 focussing on high level restoration, set-up work, sound adjustment and servicing the needs of discerning musicians and dealers.
Adam regularly makes new instruments, which are informed and inspired by his restoration work and the instruments that come through his workshop. Antiquing is a particular interest for Adam as a place where the two disciplines crossover.
Adam has regularly attended the Brandenburg International Violin Making Workshop and in 2024-25 was invited to co-lead their first group making project. Since 2023 he has been a Trustee of the RAB Trust and is passionate about supporting the education of violin making in the UK. After standing in as cover to teach on a BVMA set-up course in 2025, Adam has now been invited to continue in this role.
